Recently, the 2020 "Shared Joy in Jiangsu" Foreigners Chinese Speech Contest concluded successfully. Both of the two international students, Yana (Russia) and Roland (Swaziland), selected and trained by the Language and Cultural Center (LCC) of Jiangsu University, won the second prize.
As the Covid-19 is rampant all over the world, the contest was held on line for the first time. Yana and Roland respectively told stories of "Chinese Intangible Heritage and I - Paper Cutting" and "Chinese Intangible Heritage and I - Gu Qin". Their accurate pronunciation, smooth expression and sincere feelings deeply touched the judges, who unanimously commented their performance favorably.
As a department responsible for Chinese teaching, LCC overcame various difficulties caused by the pandemic, organized actively and prepared carefully for this contest. The preparation for the contest, such as selection of contestants, teaching of the intangible cultural heritage and training and rehearsal, lasted about two months. Their success at the contest further enhances our good reputation in the field of Chinese teaching in Jiangsu.
The 2020 "Tongle Jiangsu" Foreigners Chinese Speech Contest was organized by the Information Office of the Jinagsu Provincial Government, the Jiangsu Provincial Department of Education and the Foreign Affairs Office of the Jiangsu Provincial Government. Twelve international students from ten countries competed in the final contest.
